The gallery, my studio, and other stuff

The next open studios at Western Avenue Studios is almost here. It will be, as always, the first Saturday of the month, which will be Satuday the 5th of April. I thought I would give you an idea of what some of our spaces look like if you haven't visited already. Since I got some new toys for my studio, I though that I would post an at-work shot.

The soft-box and boom are from Paul Buff. The softbox goes from a stored state to completely set up in only a minute or so because, unlike a traditional soft-box, it is a sort of inverted umbrella. You just expand it, lock it open, and attach the diffuser onto the front with the Velcro that lines the box.

I also got a new lens: the Tokina 12-24mm. I used it for this studio shot, as well as this self-portrait. It's a good likeness of me I think.

Finally, I wanted to mention that in April, The Loading Dock Gallery at Western Avenue Studios is presenting the photography of Stuart E. Krentcil. It should be a great show. He told me that he has about 50 photos in the show!

I have had my eye on a Tokina as well. They are about half the price of the Nikkor 12-24mm but I hear they are built really well and just as good as the Nikkor.
