Moving!

I have launched my new web site! The same url, http://www.adrienbisson.com, will get you there. It has a cleaner look and is much faster than my old site. My goal is to tell you, in seconds, what I do and why it might interest you.

In addition, this blog (http://adrienbisson.blogspot.com) will be my last at this site too. I am now hosting my blog on my web site. So while these older posts will stay here for quite a while, I will be doing all future blogging at http://www.adrienbisson.com/blog, or just go to http://www.adrienbisson.com and click on "My Blog" on the left side when you get there. I will be posting something before the end of the week with some new shots from my trip to the Smoky Mountains as well as the piece that I will be showing at the upcoming 'Dirty, Smelly, Noisy' exhibition at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell.

The Floral Studies show at The Loading Dock Gallery

The reception for the Loading Dock Gallery show Floral Studies, by pastel artist Roland Cosby and photographer Thaddeus Miles, was held last evening for what was probably the largest gathering yet at the gallery. The show is stunning and will continue until May 25th. It's worth stopping by the gallery. If you haven't been in a month, you should make another visit as the work in the rest of the gallery is almost all different than last time. And it's still great!

The rest of the images that I took during the reception are in this gallery: The reception.

A show, a fair, a spring fling, and some pictures

Tonight, the first in an ongoing series of art shows in the new Lowell Telecommunications Corporation Hall Gallery opens. The show is called Green, and I am happy to say that they have selected three of my prints. The show will be on display for the remainder of this quarter, or until the end of June.

The LTC Hall Gallery is located at the top of the stairs adjacent to the entry to the ALL Arts Gallery, at 246 Market St, Lowell, MA, across from the National Park Visitors Center. Go through the first set of doors to the ALL Arts Gallery, turn left and up the stairs.

On the 3rd and 4th of May, we will be holding a Spring Fling at the Western Avenue Studios. This will be a special open studios for spring. The leaflet is shown here. I will be offering free portrait sittings, for which I will be providing more details in this space and in my email newsletter. If you want to join the newsletter, add your email address to the field to the right.

I was also informed this week that I was accepted into the juried Stockbridge Summer Arts & Crafts event, held in Stockbridge, Massachusetts on August 16th and 17th. I'll post more details as August approaches. I'm looking forward to that one!

This coming week, the work in the Loading Dock Gallery that is presented by the permanent members will be refreshed. That means that the the next time that you go to the gallery, after this Sunday, all of the work will have been changed with new work. The gallery will work this way to keep the work fresh, and to keep you coming back :-)

Here is one of my new prints that will be on display this month.

And finally, here are a few new pieces that I shot this past week and that I like:

The gallery, my studio, and other stuff

The next open studios at Western Avenue Studios is almost here. It will be, as always, the first Saturday of the month, which will be Satuday the 5th of April. I thought I would give you an idea of what some of our spaces look like if you haven't visited already. Since I got some new toys for my studio, I though that I would post an at-work shot.

The soft-box and boom are from Paul Buff. The softbox goes from a stored state to completely set up in only a minute or so because, unlike a traditional soft-box, it is a sort of inverted umbrella. You just expand it, lock it open, and attach the diffuser onto the front with the Velcro that lines the box.

I also got a new lens: the Tokina 12-24mm. I used it for this studio shot, as well as this self-portrait. It's a good likeness of me I think.

Finally, I wanted to mention that in April, The Loading Dock Gallery at Western Avenue Studios is presenting the photography of Stuart E. Krentcil. It should be a great show. He told me that he has about 50 photos in the show!

Auspicious Beginnings

Yesterday marked the grand opening of The Loading Dock Gallery at Western Avenue Studios, in Lowell, Massachusetts. The occasion was highlighted by the first in a continuing series of shows featuring the artists represented by the gallery.

Here is a link to a gallery of photos that I shot at the reception:

The Loading Dock Gallery Web Site is up!

The new web site for The Loading Dock Gallery at Western Avenue Studios is up, and it looks great. You can see it here -> LDG. It will eventually have pages on which all of the artists can show a little of their work, present an artist's statement, and list contact information. There are also some photos of the gallery itself, some of which are mine, and you may have seen here. There is also a notice of the first solo shot at the gallery, which promises to be fascinating. The web site is the excellent creation of Karen Bettencourt.

Finally, I wanted to mention that I am beginning to make third-party, unsigned prints of my photos available through the web printing and custom framing service, Imagekind.

Also see the scrollable link banner on the right (you need to enable popups).
